Holy guacamole, that is much much more than a simple handful. That is the truckload if not more. Having your dog on the lam for three hours, when you know that they are locked into their prey drive and unaware of other dangers, must be terrifying. It is almost as though the pupper you have come to love turns into some sort of monster who responds to nothing, and cares for nothing other than the thrill of the chase. All the while your heart is in your mouth as their pawrent, hoping that the sweet doggo you know and love is still inside the beast that is currently snarling and slobbering while chasing after its victim.

Yeah, we can see why a hot chocolate would be necessary. After having this kind of thing happen multiple times and it being dark, your nerves would be more than in need of some settling. Heck, just the hour and a half search must have been entirely heartwrenching. Each corner you turn fills you with a sense of dread, in some place you hope to find your dog laying somewhere, so at least you know they are no longer in pain. Each step you take filled with regret that you might have been able to have done something to stop them but didn't. It is a heavy burden to bear.
